Up, Up & Away!

Now here's a sight you don't see every day, unless you live near a paper mill (then you'll see it several times a day). They are dumping wood chips out of the back of the truck for making paper. It looks like they're launching a truck to the moon!

Slate River Valley

I don't know what it is, but there was something about this scene that I really liked. So, I took a picture.

Camp

We went out to camp this weekend. Saturday's weather was bizarre to say the least, we had rain, snow, hail and high winds, all within 10 minutes. This was a common occurrance all day. But Sunday and Monday were great.

Happy Mother's Day

This is what Derek gave me for Mother's Day/Birthday/Christms. lol It's pretty cool. He also brought dinner for us.

Mark made the pottery and Kevin gave me the stuffed puppy and bought me dinner.

I took my mom to brunch and gave her this laser engraved crystal block for Mother's Day.

Hoppin' Down The Bunny Trail

Ok, so he's not exactly on a bunny trail ... but sitting at the back tire of my van. He (or she) hung around for about 1/2 an hour yesterday evening. I took this picture through my dining room window.

Great Grey Owl

In the winter of 2004/2005 we had an influx of Great Grey Owls. Due to a food shortage up north, they migrated south looking for food. (Although, calling Thunder Bay 'south' is a bit of a stretch.) They were here for most of the winter and could be seen quite regularly perched on fenceposts along the side of the highway and back roads. Unfortunately, because they fly quite low, (below 20') some were hit and killed by vehicles.

Country Entertainment

Well, first my nephew got his truck stuck in the ditch...guys think they can drive through anything.

Here comes the audience to see what all the excitement is.

And here comes the rescuer.

Uh oh, what do you do when the rescuer gets stuck too?

We bring in the John Deere (1010) of course. (Nothing runs like a deere.)

We use the 1010 to pull the truck out.

And then, we just push the skidder out of the ditch with the 1010.
None of this would have happened if he'd just asked a woman for directions in the first place.

This is my newest niece. Isn't she adorable?

Canada Geese

Now they're coming in pairs. They are relaxing in what used to be my husband's garden.
